SAMSUNG is Interested in the Production of Ultrasound Machines in Kazakhstan
Representatives of SAMSUNG MEDISON (South Korea) arrived in Kazakhstan to study the possibility of localizing the production of medical equipment. During the visit, the company held a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC Meirzhan Yussupov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed further plans for the localization of products in the Republic of Kazakhstan. SAMSUNG MEDISON together with Ordamed JSC plans to implement a $22 million project in the Almaty region.
In his speech, CEO of SAMSUNG MEDISON Yong Kwan Kim thanked KAZAKH INVEST for supporting the implementation of the project and organizing the visit, and also stated that the institution of an investment promotion agency is very important for Kazakhstan.
“We are very happy to launch the project in Kazakhstan. When choosing a country for localization, we also considered neighboring countries, but after studying the market, we made a choice in favor of your country, due to the best conditions provided by the government of Kazakhstan, as well as the strategic location. We plan to supply products not only to the Kazakh market, but also for export. For example, we are already negotiating with the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus region,” said Yong Kwan Kim.
Yerkin Dlimbetov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ordamed JSC, noted the main achievements of joint work with SAMSUNG MEDISON:
“In 2006, we signed a contract with MEDISON for the exclusive representation of the brand in Central Asia. The result of our work is the installation of over 2000 ultrasound systems in Kazakh medical institutions. I would also like to note the comprehensive support of KAZAKH INVEST, including through foreign representatives.”
In turn, Meirzhan Yusupov spoke about the growing interest of medical companies from all over the world in localizing production in Kazakhstan:
“We welcome Korean companies in our country. South Korea is one of the major foreign trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan. We are interested in implementing joint investment projects. The government pays special attention to investments from Korea. By choosing Kazakhstan, you not only get access to promising markets, but you can also count on further support from KAZAKH INVEST at all stages of project implementation.”
It is worth noting that during the visit organized by KAZAKH INVEST, SAMSUNG MEDISON representatives met with government agencies and SK-Pharmacy LLP.
